Downey : Law Bans Killings for Food

The killing of dogs and cats for food purposes will soon be illegal in Downey, under an ordinance that was unanimously approved by the City Council. The law calls for humane treatment of dogs and cats. It also says that a licensed veterinarian, animal control officer, police officer or a person facing imminent danger would be exempted from the law.
