Man Held in Beating Death of His Father

A 22-year-old man was arrested Friday on suspicion of murdering his father at a July 8 party in Golden Hill.

Police said Gelacio Trujillo and his father, Antonio Beltran, 45, were arguing about Trujillo’s use of foul language in the presence of women at the party, when Beltran took out a pocket knife and stabbed Trujillo in the chest.

Trujillo kicked and beat his father repeatedly, according to San Diego police. Both were taken to Mercy Hospital, where Beltran died two days later of head injuries, a police said.

Trujillo had been questioned and released at the time of Beltran’s death, but no arrest was made until this week, after police talked to witnesses who had attended the party, police said.
