NEW YORK — Today may be Lee Mazzilli’s final day with the New York Mets.
With Gary Carter and Barry Lyons finishing injury rehabilitation today, the Mets have some decisions to make Tuesday.
“Phil Lombardi’s going to Tidewater,” Mets Manager Davey Johnson said Sunday. “As far as the other move, we’ll hold off on that until Tuesday.”
Mazzilli, who returned to New York in 1986, is likely to be released so that Mark Carreon can stay up. Mazzilli, 34, is batting .183, and Carreon, 26, is hitting .255.
