The city has cleared the way for a 180-seat restaurant at Santa Monica Airport’s new Clover Field Terminal and Administration Building.
The Council voted 6 to 0 Tuesday night to authorize lease negotiations with Los Angeles restaurateurs Brian and Michael Vidor to build a two-story, 4,600-square-foot restaurant, bar and concession stand.
The Vidor restaurant, “The Typhoon,” would be open six days a week and offer moderately priced Chinese and American cuisine. The Vidors would hold a 15-year lease with an option for a 10-year extension, and pay the city an annual rent of $38,452 plus 4% and 6% royalty fees on food and beverage sales.
The Vidors’ other restaurants include a Mexican food chain and a French bistro in the Northwest.
