ST. PAUL, Minn. — Senior citizens flying Northwest Airlines this fall are entitled to a discount equal to their ages, the airline announced today.
Northwest guarantees 70% off full coach fares for seniors between 62 and 70. Seniors between 71 and 99 get a discount off full coach fares equal to their ages, and passengers 100 years old or older will fly free in the first-class cabin.
Northwest has designated October as Seniors Month to honor older passengers and thank their generation for building Northwest into the nation’s fourth-largest airline, said Martha Kling-Circele, manager of leisure travel programs.
The fare discounts in “The Older You Are the Greater It Gets” promotion are available between Oct. 1 and Nov. 15 to any Northwest destination in the 50 states. Trips must be at least three days long and can be taken from Monday noon to Thursday noon, all day Saturday or Sunday morning.
Reservations must be made at least seven days before travel, and tickets must be purchased within 14 days of making the reservations or seven days before the flight, whichever comes first.
“We hope this special offer will make it easier for seniors to visit relatives or enjoy a vacation this fall,” Kling-Circele said.
