Power restored: Electrical service was restored to 400 Southern California Edison Co. customers in the Northwood area of Irvine at 2 a.m. Wednesday, after a 6 1/2-hour blackout caused by a malfunction in an underground cable, Edison spokesman Steven Nelson said. About 1,100 other customers in the area had the same power outage at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, but had their service restored within an hour.
