VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP : L. A. Baptist Sweeps Past Whittier Christian

The L. A. Baptist girls’ volleyball team needed only 55 minutes Tuesday to defeat visiting Whittier Christian, 15-2, 15-0, 15-10, in an Alpha League match.
Outside hitter Andrea Lucadam had a game-high 10 kills to pace L. A. Baptist.

Volleyball--The opponent for the L. A. Baptist High girls’ volleyball team was misidentified in Wednesday’s edition. The Knights defeated Western Christian in three games in an Alpha League match.
Leading 8-2 in the first game, the Knights (9-1 overall, 5-0 in league play), scored 22 consecutive points in taking a 2-0 lead in games.
L. A. Baptist is unranked despite preseason wins over Calabasas and Canyon, both ranked in the Southern Section 3-A Division polls.
College Women
Pierce d. Moorpark, 15-11, 15-11, 15-12--Anna Suarez had 16 kills, Andrea Banducci eight and Carina Sailer six for the Brahmas in a Western State Conference match at Pierce (10-1, 9-1 in conference).
Chapman d. Cal State Northridge, 14-16, 16-14, 16-14, 15-9--The Matadors dropped a closely contested California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match at Chapman.
With the loss, Northridge falls to 2-3 in conference play. Chapman is 4-1 in the conference.
