NON-RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PERMIT VALUATIONS

The value of non-residential building permits issued in the county during the first seven months of the year was $845.1 million, a 3% decrease over the comparable period last year. The same figure for Los Angeles County was down 14% while the three other contiguous counties made gains--most notably San Diego, where the value of these permits was up 23%.
Orange County permit valuations compared to 1988 were higher in two categories, industrial buildings (up 15%) and alterations/additions (17%), but declined in three others--office buildings (off 12%), stores (25%) and hotels and motels (6%).
