LONDON — General Motors Corp. is planning to build a new engine plant in Europe, which might encompass plans for a joint components venture with Jaguar PLC, sources said today.
Alternatively, a separate engine plant might be built as part of General Motors planned tie-up with the British luxury car maker, the sources said.
GM has 31 manufacturing centers in Europe.
Jaguar, which has spurned advances from Ford Motor Co. because it wants to remain independent, has been negotiating a cooperation agreement with GM for several weeks.
