City and county officials have agreed to a funding plan for the widening of an old two-lane bridge over Trabuco Creek, which will allow Rancho Viejo Road to be expanded to four lanes.
Under the plan approved last week by the City Council, the county will contribute $1 million for design and construction of the bridge. San Juan Capistrano could contribute up to $600,000, according to a plan submitted by Public Works Director William D. Murphy, although the city’s expenses are expected to be in the range of $135,000.
