NATION IN BRIEF : NEW YORK : Two More Charged in ‘Wilding’ Attacks

Two more youths were arrested on assault charges in the 1989 “wilding” incident in New York’s Central Park in which two men were attacked and a woman jogger was beaten and raped. Orlando Escobar, 16, and Tony Montalvo, 18, face charges of robbery, assault and riot. Escobar is accused of beating one male jogger with a lead pipe and Montalvo is charged in the beating of an elderly homeless man. About 30 youths were involved in a two-hour rampage, and six have been indicted in the attack on the woman.
