SAN CLEMENTE : Bad Weather Delays Work on I-5 Exit

Hopes that a freeway off-ramp widening could be completed during the Presidents’ Day holiday were dashed by weekend rain.
City crews will try again today to start work on ramp construction on the Avenida Pico exit of Interstate 5, a police spokesman said.
Construction will start at 7:30 a.m., and city workers hope to be finished by 2:30 p.m.
The southbound exit will be closed during the repaving. All other on-ramps and off-ramps will be open, but selected traffic lanes and signal lights at the interchange will be shut down during construction, city officials have said.
Drivers can use Camino de Estrella or Avenida Palizada as alternate routes. The work is expected to be completed in one day.
City officials were thwarted in their plans to repave the ramps during the holiday because rain made the ground too wet for construction.
