Girls’ Soccer Semifinals Set for Today

Five Orange County girls’ soccer teams, including three from the South Coast League, play in Southern Section semifinal matches at 3 p.m. today.
In the 4-A division, fifth-ranked Dana Hills (21-3-1) plays host to eighth-ranked Mission Viejo (19-3-3).
Dana Hills, the South Coast League co-champion this season with El Toro, edged St. Lucy’s, 3-2, Friday, advancing on penalty kicks after a scoreless regulation and overtime.
Mission Viejo, which won three consecutive 4-A titles from 1986-88, upset top-ranked Simi Valley, 1-0, Friday as sophomore midfielder Jill Florey scored with five minutes remaining. The Diablos, who finished third in the South Coast League, are led by three-year goalkeeper Tamar deFries. In the other 4-A semifinal, sixth-ranked El Toro (19-3-3) plays host to seventh-ranked South Torrance (18-5-1). El Toro is led by Shawn Viloria, who has 30 goals this season.
South Torrance upset second-seeded Upland, 1-0, in Friday’s quarterfinals.
In the 3-A division, second-ranked and undefeated Canyon (17-0-4) plays third-ranked Mater Dei (21-2-2).
Kim Campbell has a county-leading 36 goals this season to lead Canyon, which defeated La Habra, 3-0, Friday. Mater Dei, led by Katie Ward’s two goals, defeated Troy, 2-1, Friday.
In the other 3-A semifinal, Redlands (15-4-6) plays host to fourth-ranked Santa Barbara (23-1-2).
