Colonel’s Comments

In your article “Plane Noise Study at El Toro Creates Land Use Doubts” (March 11), the statement by Col. Jack Wagner that “the new noise lines will have little impact on nearby neighborhoods” is his way of brushing off any and all complaints in the same way he has been brushing me off at our Airport Site Coalition meetings for the past 23 months whenever I tried to present the outstanding site for a safe and convenient international airport beachside at Las Pulgas on Camp Pendleton.
After all, consider Col. Wagner for what he is--a consummate actor and top con man for the Marine Corps.
I continue to plead that these runways at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro be eliminated. World War II is over, and the buildings could be used for other purposes--like a jail or other community necessity.
