Four of Orange County’s top softball teams will be in action today when pool play begins in the 24-team Woodbridge High School Easter tournament.
Irvine High School, second to Mater Dei in the Orange County Softball Coaches’ Poll, is among the teams entered in the eighth annual tournament, which runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and continues Monday through Wednesday. Other top teams include sixth-ranked Kennedy, seventh-ranked Fountain Valley and ninth-ranked El Toro.
The teams will participate in three-team pools Saturday with the winner from each pool advancing to a winners’ bracket.
The tournament semifinals are Tuesday at 3 and 5 p.m. with the championship Wednesday at 5 p.m. All games--consolation, championship and losers’ brackets--of the double-elimination tournament are on the six fields at Harvard Park in Irvine.
