Five El Camino College players signed letters of intent with four-year colleges Wednesday, the opening day of basketball signings.
Guard Larry Lockley will follow former Cal Sate Long Beach Coach Jim Harrington to the University of Colorado.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Lockley was the Warriors’ leading scorer (18 points per game) and most versatile player this season, and played a big role in El Camino’s unexpected playoff success. The Warriors reached the semifinals of the state junior college tournament despite a dismal finish in the South Coast Conference.
Point guard Allen Caveness and forward Steve Leary will play under former Warrior Coach Paul Landreaux at St. Mary’s University. Leary (6-8, 200) was the Warriors’ top rebounder (7.7 per game), and Caveness (6-2, 165) was one of the team’s quickest and most aggressive ball handlers.
Forward David Keeter (6-5, 185) will go to Cal State Northridge for its initial Division I season. Keeter, a perimeter shooting threat, averaged 14 points in the playoffs. Center Charles Evans will attend Sacramento State.
