A 26-year old fisherman drowned Sunday after he slipped from rocks and fell into the Cerritos Channel off Terminal Island in Long Beach, authorities said.
Divers pulled the victim, whose name was not released, from 25 feet of water at 5:30 p.m. He was flown by helicopter to St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, but doctors there were unable to revive him.
Cameron Spicer, a U.S. Navy firefighter, said a friend who had been fishing with the man said: “He just slipped off the rocks under the Heim Bridge and fell into the water. He came up once and then disappeared.”
