Pepsi to Needle Coke: A Pepsi ad will soon celebrate a dubious anniversary at rival Coke. In a full-page print ad scheduled to run Monday in a handful of major newspapers, Pepsi will poke fun at the introduction of reformulated Coke exactly five years ago. That new formula was quickly rejected by many Coke drinkers. The ad, created by the New York ad agency BBDO Worldwide, will show a giant picture of a Pepsi can. The headline above the photo will say, “The reason they don’t make Coke the way they used to.” Coke has recently begun to test-market the formula under the name “Coke II.” Coke executives were not available for comment.
