Woodbridge Volleyball Coach Takes Loyola Job

Steve Stratos, boys’ and girls’ volleyball coach at Woodbridge High School, said Thursday he has accepted the women’s volleyball coaching job at Loyola Marymount. Stratos will resign as Woodbridge coach at the end of the season and assume his duties at Loyola Marymount on July 1.
“It has been a five-month process,” Stratos said of the hiring. “I was the only high school coach who was a finalist, and I was worried about that. But the kids at Woodbridge did so well that they made me look good.”
Stratos has coached at Woodbridge eight years, with a .725 winning percentage as a girls’ coach and a .742 winning percentage with the boys’ team. The Woodbridge boys are 11-1 and ranked fourth in Orange County.
Stratos will fill the vacancy left by Mike Normand, who coached both the men’s and women’s teams at Loyola Marymount last season.
Normand resigned as women’s coach to concentrate on the men’s team. The Loyola Marymount women finished 8-19 last season.
