MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A $1.25-million chair in creative writing will be established at Middle Tennessee State University to honor singer, songwriter and author Tom T. Hall, known as “the Storyteller.”
“This is the highest honor that’s ever come my way,” said Hall, who wrote the country music hit “Harper Valley PTA” and recently published his sixth book and second novel, “Spring Hill, Tennessee.”
Hall has been a guest lecturer at the school, which announced the chair last week.
The chair will be endowed by matching public and private contributions.
