HOUSTON — The twin sons of the late Rep. Mickey Leland (D-Tex.) have finally gone home from the hospital. Cameron George and Austin Mickey Leland had been hospitalized in Houston for more than four months after being born 10 weeks prematurely.
Leland’s wife, Alison, said the babies, who weighed 3 pounds and 2 pounds, 11 ounces at birth, now weigh about 8 pounds each. “They have turned into fat, healthy babies,” she said. Alison Leland was about six weeks pregnant when her husband was killed in an Aug. 7 plane crash in Ethiopia while on a hunger relief mission.
