Streets May Be Mean, but Safe at 175 M.P.H.

I enjoyed Dick Wagner’s article on the safety of the Long Beach Grand Prix circuit. But Mr. Wagner failed to mention that a longtime racer and Indy champ, Dan Gurney, was primarily responsible for its design.
In 16 years, I have not missed a race as a spectator or a volunteer worker and safety has always been the primary concern.
