CLU Doubles Team Ousted in Nationals

Matt Simpson and Tony Cohen, Cal Lutheran’s No. 1 doubles team, won a first-round match before being eliminated in the NAIA tennis championships in Kansas City, Mo., on Tuesday.
Simpson and Cohen beat George Newsome and Gareth Hosford of Atlantic Christian (N.C.), 6-1, 6-2, then lost to Billy Scott and Craig Stone of Elon (N.C.), 6-1, 6-4, in the second round.
In singles, Matt Simpson lost to 14th-seeded Zubin Irani of Atlantic Christian, 6-0, 6-2, in the third round.
