NASA Ends Repair Work, Clears Shuttle for Liftoff

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — NASA officials said Wednesday that repair work on the space shuttle Columbia has been completed, clearing the way for a liftoff next week.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has been working toward a launching next Wednesday. The actual date is to be set at a meeting today.
Columbia’s flight with seven astronauts and the $100-million Astro observatory was delayed two weeks because of a cooling valve that had to be replaced.
