RALEIGH, N.C. — Fans of “The Andy Griffith Show” will want to head to Raleigh, N.C., next week for Aunt Bee’s yard sale.
Actress Frances Bavier left her possessions to the University of North Carolina Center for Public Television Endowment Fund when she died last year, and they will be sold off June 1-2. The items include contracts from Bavier’s stage and television work, antique lace, her sewing machine, a ceramic cat, drinking glasses, gloves, scarfs, a walking stick, lamps, paintings and her 1966 Studebaker Daytona.
“It’s just like every house in America,” said antique appraiser Chris Allen. “There are some wonderful antiques. Then there are some real clunkers.” Organizers plan a public tag sale June 1 and an auction June 2.
