A woman shot and wounded her wheelchair-bound husband at a Los Angeles nursing home Thursday and then turned the gun on herself, but both are expected to survive, police said.
Carrie Adams, 66, of Los Angeles, was booked for investigation of attempted murder in the jail ward at County-USC Medical Center where she was in stable condition with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, hospital officials said.
Her husband, Eugene Adams, 68, suffered a graze wound to the head. He also was in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The shooting took place shortly after 2 p.m. at the Vernon Convalescent Hospital, 1037 W. Vernon Ave., police said.
Eugene Adams has been a patient at the hospital since February, 1989. He is recovering from a stroke, a convalescent hospital official said. He also has diabetes, uses a wheelchair but is not “bedridden,” the official said.
