A Case for Dick Tracy: A New York man has filed suit against Warren Beatty, Walt Disney Studios and its top executive, Jeffrey Katzenberg, claiming that they stole his idea to develop a movie from the Dick Tracy comic strip. The Superior Court suit filed by Harold Steinberg claims that he came up with the idea of developing a musical based on the syndicated comic strip in 1978. The concept was first presented in 1980 to Katzenberg, who was then with Paramount, and Beatty, but they said they were not interested. The suit seeks unspecified damages. The defendants could not be reached for comment.
