A Los Angeles man was killed, his passenger was in serious condition and an unidentified young woman was critically injured when the woman drove the wrong way on Interstate 5 early Sunday and crashed into another car.
The unidentified woman was driving north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5, near Coronado Avenue, about 1:50 a.m., according to San Diego police. Her vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by Jose Medina of Los Angeles.
Medina, 28, died at the scene. His passenger, Sandra Alvarado, 21, and the unidentified woman, thought to be in her 20s, were taken to UC San Diego Medical Center. The woman carried no identification.
