Max Venable, whose spectacular catch in left field helped the Angels beat the Texas Rangers Friday, has been named Angel of the Week by The Times’ Orange County Edition.
During the week, the outfielder was five for nine with a stolen base and a run batted in, raising his batting average to .333.
He has had at least one hit in each of his past four games, and 12 hits in his past 24 at-bats.
Venable, 32, has played all three outfield positions this season.
A check for $250 in Venable’s name will be given to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Orange County.
