The state Department of Transportation is raising the speed limit to 65 m.p.h. on another 75 miles of rural freeways in six segments.
In the San Diego area, the limit will be raised on 1.6 miles of Interstate 8, from El Cajon east to Flinn Springs.
The new speed limit will not be valid until signs are posted.
The additions bring to 1,350 the number of miles of California freeways with the 65 m.p.h. limit. The limit was first raised from 55 m.p.h. on May 28, 1987.
