Scottish drifter Arthur Jackson, who was due to be released from prison soon after serving seven years for wounding actress Theresa Saldana, was ordered today to stand trial on five charges of threatening her.
Saldana, who had sobbed in court Tuesday when faced with Jackson, said she was grateful for the court’s decision.
“This was our last chance in California to keep Mr. Jackson in custody,” she said in a statement.
Saldana told Municipal Judge Elva Soper on Tuesday that she had received letters from Jackson saying he would complete his divine mission to kill her when he was released from prison. “I felt that the threats were very real,” she said.
Jackson, 54, who was born in Aberdeen, is said to have developed a fixation for Saldana after seeing her in the film “Defiance.”
He was originally sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempted murder for stabbing Saldana 10 times outside her Hollywood home on March 15, 1982.
