1 Killed, 3 Critically Injured in Collision

One person was killed and three others suffered major injuries in an apparent head-on traffic collision near Pierce College on Sunday, authorities said.
Los Angeles Police Sgt. Mel Cunningham said the 7:10 p.m. accident on Victory Boulevard near Winnetka Avenue appeared to be a head-on collision, but he did not know how many cars were involved.
Victory was closed between Winnetka and DeSoto Avenue, snarling traffic, Cunningham said.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said one person died at the scene. Three others were transported in critical condition to Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
