A couple that operates a rubbish company were arrested Monday for ignoring more than 100 misdemeanor citations for dangerous equipment violations and other offenses involving their fleet of garbage trucks. Alfred Banuelos, 61, and his wife Elsie, 58, own AB Rubbish Disposal Service in West Los Angeles, where they were arrested on a six-count complaint filed Friday by the city attorney’s office. They were being held in lieu of $10,000 bail each, prosecutors said.
City Atty. James Hahn said the couple operated “trucks weighing over 25 tons with faulty steering, holes in tires down to the cord, no brakes, no head lights and no horns, being driven around Los Angeles by unqualified drivers without liability insurance.”
