Beverly Hills : Tree-Trimming Reviewed

Responding to complaints from residents who are upset about the city’s tree-trimming policies, City Manager Mark Scott said the timetable may be changed to avoid lopping off the branches of shade trees during the summer.
Although he insisted that the current three-year trimming cycle was good both for the individual plant and for the environment, Scott said that city staffers are looking for ways to complete all major cuts by April each year.
“While we have no realistic expectation that this will totally eliminate resident concerns, we hope to eliminate the question of shade removal,” he said.
Beverly Hills has about 30,000 street trees.
