Miami Will Pay $1,000 to Owner of Dog Shot by Officer

MIAMI — The city announced Thursday that it will pay about $1,000 for the veterinarian bills and cremation of a golden Labrador retriever named “Bear” that was shot by a policeman.
A police officer shot the dog June 4 when he was investigating two men suspected of being intoxicated. The barking animal ran toward the officer, who responded by shooting the dog, police said.
