WORLD IN BRIEF : CAMEROON : President Unveils Political Reforms

President Paul Biya announced wide-ranging political reforms, including introduction of a multi-party system in the former French colony and creation of a human rights commission. He told a convention of the ruling Cameroonian People’s Democratic Movement that it will have to prepare for increased competition. Analysts predicted that the West African country will have a multi-party system before the end of the year.
