Big Trout Are Planted at Mammoth

The town of Mammoth Lakes, in an attempt to enhance the area as a trout fishery, has purchased trophy-sized trout for periodic plants in four lakes in the basin.
The first of four plants of the three- to five-pound rainbows occurred June 15, and the others are scheduled through August.
“These trout are as close to wild trout as you can get raised in a domestic situation,” said Tim Alpers of Owens River Ranch, which raised to trout.
