THE SIDELINES : Boxer Pryor Sets N.Y. Eye Exam
- Share via
NEW YORK — Aaron Pryor will have an eye examination by a New York Athletic Commission doctor Friday morning to determine if he can resume fighting in the state.
Dr. Vincent Giovinazzi will check the progress of Pryor’s recovery from January, 1989, surgery to remove cataracts and repair a detached retina in his left eye.
After the surgery, the former junior welterweight champion was suspended from fighting in New York, Nevada, New Jersey and California.
He has since received clearance to fight in the Manitoba province of Canada, having passed an eye exam there.
Friday’s examination, originally scheduled earlier in the week, was postponed at the convenience of the doctor.
