NEW YORK — Foresta, ridden by Angel Cordero Jr., set a track record in beating To The Lighthouse by a head Monday in the $47,000 Rose O’Neill Handicap for fillies and mares aged 3 and up Belmont Park. The winner’s time of 1:39 3/5 for a mile on turf was 3/5 of a second better than the record set by Commadore C. in 1980.
The victory was the third in six starts this year for Foresta, who earned $28,200 and returned $21.20, $6.60 and $4.80.
