EL SIDA: That’s AIDS in Spanish, but UC Irvine researchers say translation isn’t enough to get the prevention message to uneducated Latino men. . . . The researchers are trying a storytelling approach: a comic book and a radio serial, both about three friends who cross the border, get work and meet prostitutes in a bar who demand that they use condoms. In the United States, AIDS is twice as prevalent among Latinos as it is among the general population. . . . The book and play will be tested in Latino communities.
