Ropak Corp.: The Fullerton maker of plastic packaging and handling products said second-quarter net income rose to $1.1 million, a 70% gain from the $644,000 posted for the year-earlier period. Revenue increased 3% to $28.3 million from $27.5 million. For the year’s first half, Ropak earned $1.3 million, up 44% from $875,000 in the year-earlier period. Revenue rose to $49.1 million from $48.5 million. William H. Roper, chairman and chief executive, attributed the company’s increased earnings to improvements in production efficiency and improved profit margins.
