P.M. BRIEFING : Strutton to Head Denver Paper

CINCINNATI — Larry Strutton today was named president, publisher and chief executive officer of Denver’s Rocky Mountain News, a Scripps Howard newspaper where he started his career in 1964 as a linotype operator. He has most recently been president of the Baltimore Sun.
Strutton’s appointment was announced by William W. Fletcher, former president and general manager who has been elected chairman of the News’ board of directors.
Strutton, 49, left Denver in 1981 to join the Detroit Free Press as vice president for production. In November, 1983, Strutton joined the Los Angeles Times as vice president for operations. He became executive vice president in January, 1986.
In April, 1989, Times Mirror named Strutton president of the Baltimore Sun.
