LAGUNA NIGUEL — Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man early Sunday for allegedly shooting at a pickup truck while a transient slept inside the cab.
James Magee, 30, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, Sheriff’s Lt. Larry Abbott said.
Abbott said a frantic neighbor called the Sheriff’s Department about 12:10 a.m. to report that someone was firing a rifle from an apartment balcony, Abbott said.
When deputies arrived, they “they observed the suspect firing shots toward a vehicle parked across the street,” Abbott said.
Deputies ordered Magee to put down his .22-caliber rifle, but the suspect ran inside his apartment on Hidden Hills Road and hid for about an hour before surrendering, Abbott said.
Upon inspecting the truck, deputies found that it was occupied by David Blettel, 40.
