A woman transient used a broken bottle to smash the face of another homeless woman, police said.
Ida Caskill, whose age was unavailable, was hospitalized after being struck in the face with the bottle and reportedly will need major reconstructive surgery, police said.
Jiland Higginbotham, 24, was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident occurred about 2:40 a.m. Sunday at 9th and Market streets after the two women argued, police said.
