Douglas B. Fox has been named president and chief operating officer at Newsday and New York Newsday, the paper announced. Fox, who joined Newsday in 1987 as a vice president of marketing and most recently was senior vice president for marketing, will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the newspaper. Newsday is published by Times Mirror Co., owner of The Times and other media properties.
