Columbia Pictures Entertainment Co. said Gary Lieberthal, chairman of its Columbia Pictures Television unit, has entered into a new contract and will continue as chairman. He also will be elected a director of CPE. Lieberthal heads Columbia’s TV activities including network production and syndication and has been the studio’s point man behind recruiting established TV writer-producers to Columbia. A former chief executive at Norman Lear’s Embassy Communications, Lieberthal stayed at Columbia after its purchase of Embassy and was named chairman of CPT in December, 1987.
