Stephenson Named Western Baseball Coach

Larry Stephenson said Thursday that he has been hired as the baseball coach at Western High School.
Stephenson, who is also a substitute teacher, will be a walk-on coach for the Pioneers. He was the coach at Holtville High the past two seasons.
In 1989, Holtville was 14-7 and the San Diego Section 1-A runner-up. Last season, Holtville was 17-5 and lost in the semifinals of the playoffs.
Stephenson, a graduate of Northern Kentucky, was also the head coach at Prescott, Ariz., for two seasons. He has a 60-30 record in four years as a head coach.
