GARDEN GROVE : City Studies Barring Use of Leaf Blowers

City officials, responding to complaints about noise and dust from gasoline-powered leaf blowers, are considering a move to outlaw use of the devices.
Three residents have written to the City Council to complain about the blowers, and two asked the council Monday night to consider barring them.
“I’d like to request that they should be banned,” Joseph Lord said. “In the past few years, I’d had it with these blowers. They do nothing but blow dust into the air and keep people from doing what they should, which is pick up the leaves and dispose of them.”
In a letter to the council, Wayne Woods wrote: “Twice a week I am awakened by them, and the . . . noise continues for upwards of an hour.”
The issue was referred to city staff members for a report. Once it is completed, the council will consider action, officials said.
