Altadena : Briefing on Housing Project
The Town Council was briefed Tuesday on the latest developments in a county plan to build a low-income housing project for senior citizens.
The complex at 815 E. Calaveras Street would consist of about 30 apartments on an acre of land, said Herman B. Edgar, a resident who is acting as the Town Council’s liaison with county officials on the project. One-bedroom units of about 600 square feet each, with some accommodations for the handicapped, would be available to people 62 and over with incomes of $14,000 to $21,000 a year. Most units would go to Altadena residents.
The Affordable Housing Development Division of the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission would sponsor the project. Edgar said the project is in the planning stages.
