PREP ROUNDUP : Marina Girls Breeze Past Mission Viejo in Tennis, 14-4

Marina High School swept its singles matches to defeat visiting Mission Viejo, 14-4, in a nonleague girls’ tennis match Wednesday.
Tricia Dillenback swept, 6-3, 6-4, 6-0, Holly Meyers swept, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2, and Maria Chavez swept, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, to lead Marina (4-1-1).
Marina also had a sweep of games in doubles when Thu Cao and Wendy Gratteau won, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2.
In other nonleague girls’ tennis:
Irvine 16, Trabuco Hills 2--Milvia Schinaia swept, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, and her sister Allessandra Schinaia swept, 6-1, 6-0, 6-2, in singles to lead host Irvine (4-2). Qynh Nguyen and partner Carrie Swantkowski swept, 6-2, 6-0, 6-1.
Mater Dei 10, Fountain Valley 8--Erika Asmuss swept her sets, 6-4, 6-0, 6-0, to lead visiting Mater Dei (3-1).
Capistrano Valley 10, Estancia 8--Farrah Tierney swept, 6-3, 6-2, 6-0, to lead visiting Capistrano Valley (3-0).
Corona del Mar 13, Laguna Hills 5--Lindsey Goldstein swept, 6-3, 6-4, 6-0, and the doubles team of Erica Anhood and Marci Asch swept, 6-1, 6-0, 6-2, to lead visiting Corona del Mar (2-0).
Santiago 12, Glenn 6--Sonia Ramirez and Veronica Felix swept, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, in doubles to lead host Santiago (5-1).
Savanna 14, Troy 4--Cindy Kuragami swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to lead visiting Savanna (4-2).
Dana Hills 14, Laguna Beach 4--Nicole Elliott swept, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, to lead visiting Dana Hills (4-0).
In Sunset League water polo:
Edison 16, Huntington Beach 5--Brian Melstrom scored four goals to lead Edison (4-2 overall, 1-0 in league). Todd McClung and Chris Egan each added three goals for Edison. Sean Murphy had three goals for Huntington Beach.
In nonleague water polo:
Brea-Olinda 16, Nogalas 4--Jason Bird scored four goals and Chad Carlberg scored three to lead host Brea-Olinda (4-1) over Nogalas (3-5). Brea-Olinda goalie Matt Priess had 17 saves.
Canyon 16, Gahr 8--Miguel Franco and David Kasa each scored five goals to lead Canyon (9-3) at Cerritos College.
In nonleague girls’ volleyball:
Loara 3, Savanna 0--Tracy Titus, a senior middle blocker, had 10 kills to lead host Loara (3-1) to a 15-7, 15-3, 15-12 victory. Christy Rowe, a junior setter, scored 13 of the 15 points in the second game.
Laguna Hills 3, Santa Ana 0--Linda Fleming, a senior outside hitter, had a game-high nine kills to lead Laguna Hills (1-2) to a 15-13, 15-13, 15-9 victory.
Orange 3, Troy 2--Becky Weltey had 14 kills to lead Orange (3-3) to a 16-14, 15-11, 13-15, 13-15, 15-13 victory at Troy.
Los Alamitos 3, Westminster 0--Kirston Laird had 39 assists and Kelly Kuebler(cq) had 11 kills to lead Los Alamitos (2-1) to a 15-8, 15-11, 15-7 victory.
